Zihuaroofs.com- Fundraiser letter 2024

To all our family and friends,
As we prepare for our return to Mexico on November 3,2024 we are sending this letter out to all our friends and family praying that you will be willing to help some of those in need in the Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa area. As a heads up we are dealing with a couple of health issues that are being resolved but feel God is leading us to carry on with this worthwhile ministry at least for one more year.
This year we will probably repair or replace 1 roof per week for a total of 25 or so roofs for the season. Filiberto, who has been working with us since the beginning in 2011 will be with us again this year. We also pay a helper using the "pay it forward" concept whereby a roof recipient must help with a neighbors roof either prior to his roof or immediately after. Once the roof is completed we will ask our helper Filiberto to share his testimony with those in attendance sharing the love of Jesus with them which is the "why" behind what we do.
Last winter we completed 41 roofs and we returned home April 07, 2024. We have now completed over 461 roofs in the last 13 years in the communities above Zihuatanejo and we leave it in God's hands how many we will be able to complete this coming winter. We were also blessed to put roofs on 20 "homes" out at the city dump as well.
We were also involved in supplying roofing materials for a church plant in the hills above Zihuatanejo and also a roof for the Sunday school extension of the church at the city dump.
Filiberto is given an honorarium for each roof completed which is part of the total roof cost as is his helper. As we did the last 13 years the "pay it forward" concept will be used ensuring growth in the community and a sense of ownership and pride in helping neighbors.
We are planning to repair or replace roofs again with galvanized metal sheeting and each roof should cost approximately $480.00 Canadian. The average cost per 6 meter sheet is 630 pesos($52.00Canadian per sheet). This year the exchange rate for our Canadian dollar is better than what it was last spring and that should help to keep the cost down. This type of roofing material gives them a minimum 20 years of protection. The owners who can manage a minimal amount are asked to also participate by contributing financially which gives them pride of ownership in the work being done on their home. This allows us to do one or two more houses over the winter as well.
We are blessed by the support we have received since receiving our non-profit status, thank you to all who have supported us in the past and pray that God puts it on your heart to continue to help the people of Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa.

You would click on the "email transfer" button which you would then send to our email address at [email protected]. There is a place on the screen where you would make reference to Zihua Roofs Society(very important). We would then receipt immediately through our accounting program. You would be asked to put in a security question for us to answer such as "your wife's name, dog's name "etc. You would then send us an email with the answer for us to access your donation.
